COMPANY OVERVIEW Educate the Children
International was formed after Karen and Scott Martin visited Africa in
February 2000 as part of Karen's work with Wheaton College as Director of
Graduate and International Student Services.
During this trip to
Nairobi, Kenya, Karen and Scott were given the opportunity to visit an
orphanage school. They were met by children who had lost one or both parents to
AIDS and were homeless, living on the streets of Nairobi. Their liaison, Rev.
Aston Ngota, founder of the Aston Junior School requested their assistance in
improving the education level and the quality of life for these
children.
The Martins have adopted the school and others like it for
their venture. Currently, Educate the Children International has completed a
successful pilot program with Rev. Ngota that resulted in over 1,400 pounds of
educational materials being shipped to the Aston Junior School. Subsequently,
over 200,000 pounds of educational material shipped to Kenya and Uganda in
December 2001. |
